Capricious Tumescence / Screenprint detail

DMTPORTAL is the psychedelic art, motion and music project of John Dobbie.

Trained in classical animation at Sheridan College, John has spent more than twenty years creating visual worlds for videogames, with work across franchises including Tony Hawk, Call of Duty, Diablo and God of War.

That experience gives the work a particular question to explore: what makes an invented world feel real? DMTPORTAL carries that curiosity into simulation theory, perception and imagined realities, where organic forms behave like machines and impossible structures seem alive.

The practice moves between images, animation, music and live-performance visuals. Its hand-drawn counterpart continues in Psychedelic Microcosms, a series of limited-edition screen prints.
